A Bugs Life advanced another century and tells the story of a possible inventor ant, named Flik, ​​who lives on Aunt Island. His ant colony is expected to provide an offering to a group of grasshoppers each year, but when Flik accidentally destroys what the ants have gathered for the grasshoppers, he sets out on an adventure to find other insects that can help him and the colony.

According to The Pixar Theory, A Bugs Life occurs after humans return to Earth at the end of Wall-E. Some species of animals and insects survived the contamination, as shown by the cockroach in Wall-E and the crabs in Cars 3. This also explains why insects do not seem to fear humans as much as might be expected. There just aren't many of them at this point in the PCU timeline.
